What exactly does
Speak Well With Willpower do?
The company provides community voicework that encourages participants to explore the content and delivery of powerful speech – and to explore their own voices.
This work includes exercises on tension-release, breathing, articulation, resonance, and connecting with an audience.
Participants are encouraged to take their voices beyond established ranges of pitch, pace and power – and to explore their voices’ physical, psychological and cultural components.
Spoken voice exercises on short Shakespearean texts give mouth muscles the equivalent of a gym workout, encourage speech clarity, and add colour to voices by taking them out of established patterns of pitch, power and pace. They also allow participants to explore rhetoric.
The company’s aim is to broaden participants’ speaking skills by encouraging them to explore powerful, rich language – and the power and richness of their own voices. Practical benefits will be useful for job interviews, presentations and speeches. But the frequent intellectual and emotional benefits often enhance feelings of well-being too.
